ONE THING THAT NOT BURNT
"Man must spend his life-time always in doing action, specially the karmas." - Sri Sai Satcharitra, Ch. XX.
A successful businessman, with a flourishing business in furniture, returned from a holiday only to find that, during his absence, his shop and house caught fire. All that he possessed was reduced to ashes. His property of several hundred thousands was lost.
What did he do?
Complain?
No!
Blame God whom he remembered in prayers everyday?
No!
Shed tears?
No!
His face wore a smile, and, with uplifted eyes, he asked, "Lord! What wouldst Thou have me do next?"
Over the shambles, which once was the scene of his roaring business, he put up a sign board:
Shop burnt!
House burnt!
Goods burnt!
But faith not burnt!
Starting business tomorrow!
Here was a man who had learnt to meet the challenge of life – its problems, trials and tribulations – in the right way.
