"Where Did the Chemicals Evolve From?" Physicists have no idea where matter originated from but the Vedas scientifically demonstrate how all the elements evolved from the misguided "False Ego." Transcendence requires correcting this mistake by reestablishing the soul's identity with "Real Ego." Learn this subtle science and how it all began at the next AVA meeting! 7:30PM / 687 West Villanova Road - 640-0405 Always Free!

Guest Scientist to Speak On:

Chemicals Come From Life NOT Visa-Versa!

At our next AVA meeting we are honored to have Audarya-Lila speak on this important subject. He is most qualified to give this presentation because he is the Process Development Manager for Dako Corporation, one of the world's leading companies in cancer diagnostics. Audarya-lila's has been studying enzymes, DNA, protein kinases and pharmaceuticals for his long scientific career. He is therefore an ideal person to help us understand that chemicals come from life, not the other way around as suggested by the evolutionists! Don't miss this interesting presentation!

Thank You Jai Balaram Dasa

Jai Balarama dasa was the speaker at our last program where we discussed how our personal choices will impact\s the environment. This is particularly true in regards to the choices we make when eating. The majority of the population is simply unaware of the fact that: "The value of raw materials consumed to produce food from livestock is greater than the value of all oil, gas, and coal consumed in this country."- Bureau of Mines; U.S Department Of Commerce,& Interior

Thank you Jai Balaram for how nicely you led the discussion! Many individuals appreciated your heartfelt presentation!

Prelude to This Month's Feature Article

The First Law of Thermal Dynamics

Physicists agree that one of the most important of all the physical laws are the ones related to the laws of Thermal Dynamics. Many of us are familiar with the first law which states:

1. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed. It can only change forms. In any process, the total energy of the universe remains the same.

The first law of Thermal dynamics confirms that everything comes about by some previous cause which created it. However this leads to a very big conundrum whenever there is a discussion related to the origin of the universe. If nothing can just "Pop" into existence, then what was the original cause that started the chain reaction of energy that we can now observe as constantly mutating without end? For those who accept the Vedic conclusion the answer is very simple and found in the prayers chanted by Lord Brahma, the first progenitor of this entire cosmic creation:

isvarah paramah krsnah sac-cid-ananda-vigrahah

anadir adir govindah sarva-karana-karanam

"Krsna who is known as Govinda is the Supreme Godhead. He has an eternal blissful spiritual body. He is the origin of all. He has no other origin and He is the prime cause of all causes." Sri Brahma Samhita Chapter 5, "Hymn to the Absolute," Mantra 1.LINK: http://brahmasamhita.com/5/1/en

The Shortcoming of Logic & Rational Thinking

Atheists like Richard Dawkins (Author of: The God Delusion) blatantly reject any suggestion that a divine force is the first original cause in relation to the origin of the universe. He rejects this idea because of a personal bias he has that God can not exist. He feels this way because he believes it is the correct conclusion based on what he believes to be sound reasoning and logical deductions. However a closer look at Mr. Dawkins reasoning suggests that he isn't as logical as he gives himself credit for.

First of all because he is a flawed human being with imperfect senses, and the propensity to make mistakes, come under the deception of illusion and cheat; any conclusion that Mr. Dawkins arrives at should be immediately considered suspect. He also makes some very flawed assumptions about the character of God.

It is evident that Mr. Dawkins believes that God can be deductively comprehended via raw logic and reasoning. This is a common flaw made by numerous philosophers. They like to come up with hypothetical questions reminiscent of Buddhist Koans as some type of tricky way to disprove the existence of God. One of the more popular examples of this type of cleaver inquiry is:

Can God make a rock that He can't pick up?

The logical trap is an attempt to smoke out God as either not being able to create everything or do everything.

According to Lord Caitanya, who was non different then Krishna Himself, God is NOT constrained by such mental gymnastics:

ithe tarka kari' keha na kara samsaya

krsnera acintya-sakti ei mata haya

"One cannot understand the contradictions in Lord Caitanya's character by putting forward mundane logic and arguments. Consequently one should not maintain doubts in this connection. One should simply try to understand the inconceivable energy of Krsna; otherwise one cannot understand how such contradictions are possible." - Sri Chaitanya Charitamrita Adi Lila Chapter 17 "The Pastimes of Lord Caitanya Mahäprabhu in His Youth", Text 305. LINK: http://caitanyacaritamrta.com/Adi/17/305/en

tarkera gocara nahe namera mahattva

kotha haite janibe se ei saba tattva?

"One cannot understand the glories of the holy name simply by logic and argument. Therefore this man cannot possibly understand the glories of the holy name." - Sri Chaitanya Charitamrita Antya Lila Chapter 3 "The Glories of Srila Haridasa Thakura", Text 206. LINK: http://caitanyacaritamrta.com/Antya/3/206/en

alaukika krsna-lila, divya-sakti tara

tarkera gocara nahe caritra yahara

"The pastimes of Lord Krsna are uncommonly full of transcendental potency. It is a characteristic of such pastimes that they do not fall within the jurisdiction of experimental logic and arguments." - Sri Chaitanya Charitamrita Antya Lila Chapter 19 "The Inconceivable Behavior of Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu", Text 103. LINK: http://caitanyacaritamrta.com/Antya/19/103/en

It is very hard for scientists like Richard Dawkins to grasp the subtle concept taught by Lord Caitanya which is known as the philosophy of "acintya-bhedabheda-tattva." That Sanskrit sutra means that when we are discussing the nature of the absolute, everything is "Simultaneously one with and different from everything else." This is hard for the average conditioned soul to comprehend. The cosmic manifestation created by the Supreme Lord by His material energy is simultaneously different and non-different from Him. The material energy is non-different from the Supreme Lord, but at the same time, because that energy is acting in a different way, it is different from Him. Similarly, the individual living entity is one with and different from the Supreme Lord. This "simultaneously one and different" philosophy is the perfected conclusion of the Vedic school. (Purport:-Srimad Bhagavat Purana Canto 3, Chapter 28. Text 41. LINK: http://vedabase.net/sb/3/28/4/en )

Tthis is how it is possible for the devotee of the lord to understand and teach others about how the world was created by a divine force using logic & reasoning, while at the same time the Personality of Godhead can remain elusive to dry philosophical speculations and scientific investigations.

When His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami was asked the atheists challenge:

Can God make a rock that He can't pick up?

His response reflected the same inconceivable truth captured by the "acintya-bhedabheda-tattva." Principal. He answered: "Yes! God can make a rock that He cannot pick up…. And then he would pick it up!"

Cheating Propensity of Scientists

Atheists like Richard Dawkins will no doubt reject this type of thinking as a species attempt to dodge the conclusions he and his fellow atheists have arrived at via their flawed scientific processes. But that is just an example of their own cheating propensity. If we look closely we find that when physicists' come up against conditions they can not logically or rationally explain, they also evoke their own version of the "acintya-bhedabheda-tattva" principal.

For example when physicists studied the behavior of atoms in an attempt to determine if they act more like particles or waves, their experiments did not lead to an absolute law. When no solid conclusion was forthcoming they had to come up with some way of explaining this strange new phenomena and Warner Heisenberg provided that explanation. Today we know it as the now famous "Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principal," also known as the "principle of indeterminacy." (See this month's HotLink For a layman's understanding of this important point.) This is an example of how scientists tacitly acknowledge their own inability to logically explain everything with conclusive inflexible explanations.

Quantum physicists are notorious for postulating all sorts of various theories in an attempt to better pin down and understand what is happening on the Sub Atomic level. Niels Bohr concedes just how difficult it is for scientists to be sure of anything in the field he is acknowledged as a world authority in:

"Anyone who can contemplate the concept of Quantum Physics without getting dizzy hasn't properly understood it." -Niels Bohr, Danish physicist who made fundamental contributions to understanding atomic structure and quantum mechanics, for which he received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1922. (7 October 1885 – 18 November 1962)

The fact that there is so much "Uncertainty" in this area of science is noted by Mr. Dawkins in his book, but then he completely dismisses scientific ignorance by claiming: "We are evolved denizens of the Middle World, and that limits what we are capable of imagining." (The God Delusion p.370) That is exactly our point Mr. Dawkins! By definition God is unlimited and here you admit that you are very limited. So how can you expect to understand the divine if you are only willing to accept evidence arrived at by your own very limited efforts?

The Second Law of Thermal Dynamics

Physicists have also concluded that the entropy of an isolated system which is not in equilibrium will tend to increase over time. This is known as the second law of thermal dynamics. It is more easily understood by observing how everything in the universe is dissolving from an organized state of balance into a state of disorder. A clarifying example is how we exploit the earth for oil & minerals. They are extracted from mines and wells drilled into the earth where those resources are concentrated. As we harvest them they become depleted thru dissipation. Recycling efforts are intended to slow down the process of entropy. The second law of thermal dynamics insures that the "Arrow of Time" must always point forward to a future where everything we currently take for granted will eventually collapse into completely dysfunctional chaos that can no longer be useful for anyone.

Here we find that the second law of thermal dynamics is also consistent with the description the Vedas provide about the state of the universe just prior to the end of this milinieum. The Srimad Bhagavat Purana confirms that at the end of Kali Yuga, we wouldn't even be able to rely on the rain and everything will indeed be in total chaous.

tada niranne hy anyonyam bhaksyamanah ksudharditah

ksayam yasyanti sanakaih kalenopadrutah prajah (7)

samudram daihikam bhaumam rasam samvartako ravih

rasmibhih pibate ghoraih sarvam naiva vimuncati (8)

tatah samvartako vahnih sankarsana-mukhotthitah

dahaty anila-vegotthah sunyan bhu-vivaran atha (9)

"As annihilation approaches, O King, there will be no rain upon the earth for one hundred years. Drought will lead to famine, and the starving populace will literally consume one another. The inhabitants of the earth, bewildered by the force of time, will gradually be destroyed." (7) The sun in its annihilating form will drink up with its terrible rays all the water of the ocean, of living bodies and of the earth itself. But the devastating sun will not give any rain in return. (8)Next the great fire of annihilation will flare up from the mouth of Lord Sankarsana. Carried by the mighty force of the wind, this fire will burn throughout the universe, scorching the lifeless cosmic shell. (9) -Srimad Bhagavat Purana Canto 12, The Age of Deterioration. -Chapter 4. "The Four Categories of Universal Annihilation', Test 7, 8, 9. LINK: http://vedabase.net/sb/12/4/7/en

Where Did The Chemicals Come From,.. Evolution?

This exchange between His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada; a guest, and a disciple named Dr. Thoudam D. Singh took place in December of 1973, during a morning walk at Venice Beach, in Los Angeles.

Dr. Singh: The scientists say that at one point the earth, was composed of dust particles floating in some gaseous material. Then in due course this colloidal suspension condensed, and formed the earth.

HDG A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami: That may be, but where did the gas come from?

Dr. Singh: They say it just existed!

HDG A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami: Lord Krsna says in Bhagavad-gita,

bhumir apo 'nalo vayuh kham mano buddhir eva ca

ahankara itiyam me bhinna prakrtir astadha

"Earth, water, fire, air, ether; mind, intelligence, and false ego -- all together these eight comprise My separated material energies." Bhagavad-Gita Gita As It Is Chapter 7,"Knowledge Of The Absolute" Text 4. LINK: http://bhagavadgitaasitis.com/7/4/en

Here Krsna explains that vayu (gas) came from Him. And finer than vayu is kham (ether), finer than ether is mind, finer than mind is intelligence, finer than intelligence is false ego, and finer than false ego is the soul. But the scientists do not know this. They understand only gross things. They mention gas, but where does the gas come from?

Dr. Singh: That they cannot answer.

HDG A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami: But we can answer. From Srimad-Bhagavatam we know that gas has come from kham, or ether, ether comes from mind, mind comes from intelligence, intelligence comes from false ego, and false ego comes from the soul.

Dr. Singh: The scientists argue that before Darwin's biophysical type of evolution could take place, there had to be what' they call "prebiotic chemistry," or chemical evolution.

HDG A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami: Yes. And the term "chemical evolution" means that chemicals have an origin, and that origin is spirit, or life. A lemon produces citric acid, and our bodies produce many chemicals in urine, blood, perspiration, and other bodily secretions. This is proof that life produces chemicals, not that chemicals produce life.

Dr. Singh: Scientists say that once the seed of life is present in the cells, then the living entity automatically develops and functions.

HDG A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami: Yes, but who gives the seed? In the Bhagavad-gita Krsna answers this question.

bijam mam sarva-bhutanam viddhi partha sanatanam

buddhir buddhimatam asmi tejas tejasvinam aham

"O son of Prtha, know that I am the original seed of all existences, the intelligence of the intelligent, and the prowess of all powerful men." - Bhagavad-Gita Gita As It Is Chapter 7,"Knowledge Of The Absolute" Text 22. LINK: http://bhagavadgitaasitis.com/7/10/en

Later Krsna says,

sarva-yonisu kaunteya murtayah sambhavanti yah

tasam brahma mahad yonir aham bija-pradah pita

"It should be understood that all species of life, O son of Kunti, are made possible by birth in this material nature, and that I am the seed-giving father." - Bhagavad-Gita Gita As It Is Chapter 14,"The Three Modes of Material Nature" Text 4. LINK: http://bhagavadgitaasitis.com/14/4/en

Dr. Wolf-Rottkay: But in all humility, Srila Prabhupada, suppose the scientists actually succeed in artificially creating a living organism, or even a living cell. What would you say?

HDG A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami: What would be their credit? They would only be imitating what already exists in nature. People are very fond of imitations. If a man in a nightclub imitates a dog, people will go and pay money to watch him. But when they see a real dog barking, they don't pay any attention to it.

Dr. Singh: Srila Prabhupada, the idea of chemical evolution came from a Russian biologist in 1920. He demonstrated that before biochemical evolution, the earth's atmosphere was in a state of reduction. In other words, it was mostly full of hydrogen, with very little oxygen. Then, in due course, the sun's radiation caused these hydrogen molecules to form into different chemicals:

HDG A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami: This is a side study. First of all, where did the hydrogen come from? The scientists simply study the middle of the process; they do not study the origin. We must know the beginning. There is an airplane. [Srila Prabhupada indicates an airplane appearing on the horizon.] Would you say the origin of that machine is the sea? A foolish person might say that all of a sudden a light appeared in the sea and that's how the airplane was created. But is that a scientific explanation? The scientists' explanations are similar. They say, "This existed, and then all of a sudden, by chance, that occurred." This is not science. Science means to explain the original cause.

Perhaps the scientists can create imitations of nature, but why should we give them credit? We should give credit to the original creator, God; that is our philosophy.

Dr. Singh: When a scientist discovers some natural law, he usually names it after himself.

HDG A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami: Yes, exactly. The law is already there in nature, but the rascal wants to take credit for it.

Dr. Singh: They are actually fighting against the laws of nature, but often they take a certain kind of pleasure in the struggle.

HDG A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami: That pleasure is childish. Suppose a child builds a sand castle on the beach with great effort. He may take pleasure in it, but that is childish pleasure. That is not a grown man's pleasure. Materialistic men have created a standard of false happiness. They have created a gorgeous arrangement for maintaining a comfortable civilization, but it is all false because they cannot create a situation in which they will be able to enjoy it permanently. At any moment, anyone can be kicked out by death, and all his enjoyment will be finished.,

Dr. Singh: That is why they say that God hasn't given us everything -- because we are not able to live here forever.

HDG A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami: But God has given them everything necessary to live peacefully, and everything necessary to understand Him. So why will they not inquire about God? Instead, they do things that help them forget God.

Biography of Abhay Charan De Series

1. Birth of Abhay Charan De After Lord Krishna's Appearance Festival

The biography of His Divine Grace Abhay Charan Bhaktivedanta Swami begins by introducing us to the important figures that molded his youth. We first meet Abhay's parents who grew up in Calcutta and lived under the oppressive regime of the British government. Abhay's birth, which came immediately after Lord Krishna's Appearance day festival on September 1, 1895 is then shown along with the predictions that the local Astrologers made when Abhay was born: "He will be a great devotee of Krishna and although he will accept the sanyasa order of life, he will live with great opulence, travel all of the seven oceans, and open 108 temples in cities around the world!" We then meet the saintly Srimad Bhaktivenode Thakur, and his equally extraordinary son, Bhimala Prasada who later became Bhaktivedanta Swami's spiritual master. We see Bhaktivenode employed as a magistrate for the state of Bengal and he shares his prophetic vision of a great city glorifying Lord Caitanya!

Ojai Time Warner Channel 10 Scheduled Broadcasts:

In December of 2008 the Time Warner contract for providing Public Access television to the people of the Ojai Valley expired. The city of Ojai has discussed a variety of alternative solutions to replace this important vehicle for expressing free speech and the broadcast of low budget local films.

To the best of my knowledge an agreement has been made between the city of Ojai and the local Board of Education which authorizes the High School to step in and keep Public Access operating in Ojai. This is a brilliant move because it relieves the City from the concerns it has in relation to staffing a broadcast office while simultaneously giving the older students to learn how to actually run a functional television broadcasting office.

I recently met with the appropriate individuals from the school board to inform them of my interest in restarting the AVA Educational Video series as soon as everything is ready for operations. I have been told that the School system is ready to go, but apparently there are still several petty issues that need to be resolve by the City before broadcasting can commence. Hopefully that will occur before too much longer and we be given the green light to start broadcasting again. At that time I will advise the Ojai readers regarding what time and which channel they can find the AVA educational hour on

Readers Input Requested

It is unclear where the future of Cable Television for Ojai is going. In order to get AVA shows broadcast to the Ojai public I am willing to meet with whomever the appropriate people are to reopen this wonderful educational venue. If anyone can provide me with information relevant to this issue then please call me if there is something I can do to achieve this intended end result. –Thank you. (805) 640-0405 c/o mayesvara dasa

Invitation to Everyone Who Receives This Newsletter!

The purpose of this newsletter is to seek out and invite anyone who is serious about real spiritual growth to come join us for a great evening of Krishna Katha, (Discussions about Krishna), Krishna Prasadam, (Wonderful Vegetarian Dinner first offered to Krishna with Love) and Krishna Nama-Bhajanas. (Glorification of Krishna's names and Pastimes in Sanskrit.) 1st & 3rd Tuesday of every month. Reservations are NOT required. (805) 640-0405

Invitation to Fellow Vaishnavas!

Vaishnavas who have experience speaking on the transcendental name, fame, and pastimes of the Supreme Personality of Godhead Lord Sri Krishna are invited to contact AVA if you would like to speak atone of our programs. The AVA congregation meets on the first and third Tuesdays of the month with special events held to celebrate Janmastami and Gour Purnima. If you are in the area, or would like to visit with us for the evening, please let us know of that desire and we will schedule a date and work out the details for when you can speak.

This invitation is extended to any male of female initiated member of Lord Caitanya's Brahma-Madva Gaudia Sampraday Sankirtan tree. Our mood is that of transcendental collaboration for the glorification of Krishna sans niti-katha. Those who are interested in leading kirtan, or assisting in the preparation of the FREE Vegetarian feast are also invited to contact us so we can make the necessary arrangements to accommodate you.

Vegetarian Cooking!

We are happy to see how nicely the AVA congregational members are improving their Vegetarian culinary skills! Adopting a diet that allows other creatures to live their lives peacefully is a tradition that extends way back in both Vedic as well as Buddhist traditions. One would think that all serious transcendentalists would understand this simple principal, but unfortunately that does not appear to be true.

Educating people about the importance of a Vegetarian diet is essential for anyone who is serious about escaping the serious laws of karma delineated in the Vedas. Unfortunately there are many teachers who will compromise the importance of the Vegetarian diet in order to attract more followers and promote their own watered down ideas about what real spiritual maturity is all about.

AVA is committed to teaching the science of Self Realization the way it has been handed down and respected by the great sages for thousands of generations. That is why part of the service we offer is to teach anyone who is interested in this process how to eat properly.

Those who are raised in a carnivorous society but then want to convert to a Vegetarian diet often experience a lot of cognitive dissonance. On one hand, they are intellectually convinced that they ought to be a vegetarian, but they simply don't know how to convert their diet over to that lifestyle. Instead of postponing that on-going dilemma, why not consider learning how to cook wonderful Vegetarian foods using herbs and spices that not only taste good, but also make eating a tremendously fulfilling experience! You can do that prior to any AVA meeting where we always prepare a nice meal for all the guests who attend. Those who want to learn this tremendous skill are advised to contact us 36 hours prior to the AVA event so we can tell you what and when we will be cooking for that program. You can then join us at that time and start learning how to adopt the eating habits recommended in the Vedas for Human life, which is also the most beneficial for rapid spiritual maturity. :-)

Public Engagements?

As the AVA newsletter continues to find new audiences, some have asked about the possibility of bringing the subjects we discuss into other gatherings. If it is possible to schedule those requests we will be happy to do so as part of our service to the community. For this purpose AVA has compiled a list of contemporary subjects for which we have essays, books, charts, graphs, and in some cases, videos to augment our presentations. For more information about scheduling an engagement to learn more about the Vedic Siddhanta (conclusion) please contact us directly.

Suggest A Subject?

Many of the subjects we cover in the "AVA Newsletter" come from questions or topics that are only vaguely commented on by other sources. If you have a subject you would like us to address, please send the question in to us and we will consider it for a future AVA topic. Simple questions are also addressed during the "Bhagavad-Gita Fellowship" meetings for the benefit of all those who attend.

Vedic Authority

What makes the AVA program different from all other contemporary sources of transcendental learning? We rely on the methodical, thorough and scientific way the Vedas portray the world we live in. The Vedas are so vast, and unlike any other literature known to man, they are often criticized as confusing and esoteric. But this is because the secret of the Vedas can only be unlocked by one who has been properly trained how to "decode" them. Although that sounds like an exhausting study, it is actually quite easy if the candidate is willing to accept instruction from a good source. In fact, the path of Bhakti (Loving Devotion to the Supreme Lord in His Personal Form) is so powerful that the essences of all the Vedas become automatically realized to that soul who surrenders to the Personality of Godhead and engages in devotional service to Him.

"A person who accepts the path of devotional service is not bereft of the results derived from studying the Vedas, performing austere sacrifices, giving charity or perusing philosophical and furtive activities. Simply by performing devotional service he attains all these and at the end he reaches the supreme eternal abode." - Bhagavad-Gita Gita As It Is Chapter 8 "Attaining the Supreme" Text 28. LINK: http://bhagavadgitaasitis.com/8/28/en

To grow transcendentally requires a reliable authority like the Bhagavad-Gita, (The torchlight of knowledge, Bg. 10.11) One is free to reject Vedic authority, but the consequences of doing so returns one to the words of speculation, conjecture, flawed empirical analysis, and a plethora of silly ideas about what spiritual life is from psycho-therapists, self declared gurus, charlatans, and carpetbag religionists, to name just a few.

Back Issues of AVA Newsletter

The subjects that we have already covered in 2005 are also included at the end of this newsletter. If you would like a digital copy of a past "AVA Newsletter," let us know and we will be happy to forward it to you for your further erudition.

AVA MISSION

Honor & Respect All the Magnanimous Souls

The American Vedic Association is an humble attempt to carry on with the mission of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami. In the Bhagavad Gita Lord Krishna unambiguously states:

udarah sarva evaite jnani tv atmaiva me matam

asthitah sa hi yuktatma mam evanuttamam gatim

"ALL these devotees are undoubtedly magnanimous souls, but he who is situated in knowledge of Me I consider to be just like My own self. Being engaged in My transcendental service, he is sure to attain Me, the highest and most perfect goal." - Bhagavad Gita As It Is, Chapter7 "Knowledge of the Absolute', Text 18. LINK: http://bhagavadgitaasitis.com/7/18/en

This mood is further clearly confirmed by Krishnadasa Kaviraj Goswami in the Caitainya Caritamrita:

vande sri-krsna-caitanya- premamara-taroh priyan

sakha-rupan bhakta-ganan krsna-prema-phala-pradan

"I offer my obeisances to ALL the dear devotees of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, the eternal tree of love of Godhead. I offer my respects to ALL the branches of the tree, the devotees of the Lord who distribute the fruit of love of Krsna. ." - Sri Chaitanya Charitamrita Adi Lila, Chapter 10. "The Trunk, Branches and Subbranches of the Caitanya Tree" Text 7" - LINK: http://caitanyacaritamrta.com/adi/10/7/en

It is therefore clear that anyone who is properly trained in the science of self realization as handed down in the Gaudia Vaishnav tradition is a "Magnanimous Soul" and therefore deserves ALL respects. Based on this simple fact the American Vedic Association welcomes ALL Vaishnavas to participate in AVA events regardless of which branch on Lord Caitanya's sankirtan tree they may have studied with or current doctrinal disputes.

To any close observer it is evident that His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami single handedly completely revolutionized the concept of yoga, meditation, Self Realization and religion in the Western world. He did this by introducing the Vedic Siddhanta which clearly delineates the three different levels of God Realization which culminates in Bhagavan Realization.

"Learned transcendentalists who know the Absolute Truth call this nondual substance Brahman1, Paramatma2 or Bhagavatam3. -Srimad Bhagavat Purana Canto 1, "Creation" , Chapter 2, "Divinity & Divine Service", Text 11. LINK: http://vedabase.net/sp/1/2/11/en

The symptoms of Bhagavan Realization are evident when the aspiring transcendentalist finally understands, accepts, and surrenders to Krishna the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

"And of all yogis, the one with great faith who always abides in Me, thinks of ME within himself, and renders transcendental loving service to Me, He is the most intimately united with Me in yoga and is the highest of all. That is My opinion. - Bhagavad Gita As It Is, Chapter 6 "Sankya Yoga', Text 47. LINK: http://bhagavadgitaasitis.com/6/47/en

Expose the Shortcomings of Impersonalism and Voidism

Based on the strength of the Vedas, Bhaktivedanta Swami also taught that the greatest threat to the welfare of the world, society, economy and world peace etc, was the irrational self-centered sophistry of the Non-Dual and voidists schools of transcendence. This is further confirmed by Lord Caitanya Himself:

"Sripad Sankaracaray has describe all the Vedic Literatures in terms of indirect meanings. One who hears such explanations is ruined." – Sri Caitanya Caritamrita Adi Lila, Chapter 7. "Lord Caitanya in Five Features" Text 109". LINK: http://caitanyacaritamrta.com/adi/7/109/en

"Sankaracarya, who is an incarnation of Lord Siva is faultless because he is a servant carrying out the orders of the Lord. But those who follow his Mayavadi Philosophy are doomed. They will lose all their advancement in spiritual knowledge." - Sri Chaitanya Charitamrita Adi Lila, Chapter 7. "Lord Caitanya in Five Features" Text 114". LINK: http://caitanyacaritamrta.com/adi/7/114/en

The Non-Dual Advaita School was introduced by Sankaracarya and is also referred to as Mayavadi philosophy. The Voidist traditions are taught primarily by the followers of Lord Buddha. It is ironic that Sripad Sankaracarya is accepted as Lord Siva working under the instruction of Lord Krishna for the specific purpose of deluding those who are not willing to surrender. It is equally curious that Lord Buddha is also accepted as an incarnation of Lord Krishna. In both cases Krishna has tricking those who can not grasp his original form as the Surpreme Personalty of Godhead. By appearing in these forms he has made it possible every for the impersonaist to appreciate Him indirectly in a less personal way as one of his immediate expansions. Both of these points make for an interesting discussion but I will not elaborate on this any more here.

It is primarily because the followers of Christianity and Islam have failed so miserably to set a good example that the mass of the population is turning away from the classic "God" centered religions and are now starting to adopt these atheistic faiths. The alternative to this dire scenario requires rethinking the prudence of embracing impersonalism and voidism but as stated above, once the mind has become contaminated with the word juggling rhetoric of the faithless it is very difficult to grasp the concept of God as a Person, ie: Bhagavan Realization.

Therefore out of all the numerous and extraordinary things that His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivanta Swami Prabhupada taught in the Western World, exposing the futility of these misguided traditions was arguably his foremost mission. This is clearly evident in the Sanskrit Pranama mantra which he was honored by during his physical presence and continues to be eulogized by to this day:

namas te sarasvate deve gaura-vani-pracarine nirvisesa-sunyavadi-pascatya-desa-tarine.

"We offer our respects unto you, the student of Sarasvati Gosvami. You are kindly teaching the message of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu for the purpose of delivering the Western World from impersonalism and voidism."

For this reason it is also the mission of the American Vedic Association to help the conditioned souls philosophically understand where and how these impersonal traditions fail to meet both the needs of the eternal soul, as well as why they can not possibly resolve the numerous social ills that plague the peace and solvency of all the worlds peoples. It is not our intention to offend any of our friends who may currently be involved with these other practices only inform them of a historical point of view they may not currently be familiar with. If anyone wishes to understand any of these points in greater detail you are encouraged to join us at one of our bi-monthly meetings where we will be happy to thoroughly answer all your questions based on the strength of Vedic Authority.

AVA Scheduled Subjects for 2009

1st Tue. May. 5th, 2009

"Where Did the Chemicals Evolve From?" - will be topic at the next American Vedic Association Bhagavad-Gita As It Is Fellowship discussion. Physicists have no idea where matter originated from but the Vedas scientifically demonstrate how all the elements evolved from the misguided "False Ego." Transcendence requires correcting this mistake by reestablishing the soul's identity with "Real Ego." Learn this subtle science and how it all began at the next AVA meeting! 7:30PM / 687 West Villanova Road - 640-0405 Always Free!

2nd Tue. May. 19th, 2009

"Satisfaction Is the Measure of Advancement" - will be topic at the next American Vedic Association Bhagavad-Gita As It Is Fellowship discussion. Attempting to satisfy the elusive demands of the senses just escalates to the point where it will disturb the individual, others and the environment. Conversely; the properly situated soul is self-satisfied and not dependent on the external phantasmagoria for peace. Treat your soul to lasting satisfaction at the next AVA gathering! 7:30PM / 687 West Villanova Road - 640-0405 Always Free!

1st Tue. Jun. 2th, 2009

"Seeing God Inside & Out" - will be topic at the next American Vedic Association Bhagavad-Gita As It Is Fellowship discussion. Some advise to seek God from within, above, in silence or in Nature. Still others say He transcends all matter and has no personality while atheists insist any concept of God is man-made humbug. Find out how the Vedas reconcile all these diverse viewpoints at the next AVA meeting! 7:30PM / 687 West Villanova Road - 640-0405 Always Free!

2nd Tue. Jun. 16th, 2009

"Gainsay Gushy Guessing Gurus!" - will be topic at the next American Vedic Association Bhagavad-Gita As It Is Fellowship discussion. Bad teachers thrive on the poorly informed. Illogical rhetoric, personal visions, brain twisting clichés, and bodacious patronizing about ones own "Godliness" does not equate spiritual maturity. Learn how chakras, silent meditation, and Kundalini all fall short of the "Absolute Truth" identified in the Vedas as the "Topmost Yoga" and taught about at every AVA meeting! 7:30PM / 687 West Villanova Road - 640-0405 Always Free!

To Be Continued in July 2009…

Why This Newsletter Was Sent to You & the AVA Purpose
This newsletter is being sent to you because someone felt you might have an interest in the "Science of Self Realization" as it is explained in the Vedic literature of ancient India. It is posted twice a month and its primary purpose is to remind the American Vedic Association congregation to attend the bi-monthly Bhagavad-Gita Gita Appreciation Gathering that is held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month.

The material presented in these newsletters is based on the conclusions of the Vedic Literature as understood by India's foremost authorities on that subject namely, Lord Brahma, Maharaja Pariksit, Narada Muni, Madhavacarya, Ramanujacarya, Krishna Dasa Kaviraja, Narotama Das Thakur, the Six Goswami's of Vrindaban, Bhaktivenode Thakur and Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu to name just a few. The purpose of this correspondence is to help readers properly explain Sanskrit terms, clarify misunderstandings about Indian theology, and make the Vedic conclusion more accessible to the Western mind.

Questions are always welcome, and may be integrated into future newsletters. It is our hope that you will find the content to be informative and meaningful. It is also an invitation for you to consider joining us at one of our bi-monthly Bhagavad-Gita as It Is meetings if you happen to be within a reasonable driving distance from Ojai, California, USA.

Must Say No?

Most people are familiar with the Biblical advice given in the "Sermon on the Mount"

"Give not what is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine. Lest they trample them under their feet, and turn against and rend* you." - Bible, Matthew Chapter7, Text 6. (*rend = tear you apart violently.)

This is not only a common theme found in all great scriptures, yet even secular teachers have no interest in trying to explain something to a defiant student. Therefore, if you prefer not to receive any further information about the Vedas, AVA events, or the process of spiritual growth honored by the great sages of ancient India, then simply request to be taken off of our mailing list. We will lament seeing you go when we do, but will gladly comply with your request.

"Bewildered by the modes of material nature, the ignorant fully engage themselves in material activities and become attached. But the wise should not unsettle them, although these duties are inferior due to the performer's lack of knowledge. "- Bhagavad Gita As It Is; Chapter 3 Karma Yoga Text 29. Thank you for your patience and interest!
